Microphones are great for capturing audio and video and capturing sound, but Microsoft is adding a new option to its Surface RT tablets and laptops, a remote microphone.
The new Microphone option will work with Windows 10 RT devices, and the company has announced that it will launch a Surface RT Mini “in-the-box” accessory, the “Microphones” series, in the coming months.
Microsoft’s announcement is also a sign that it plans to launch the Surface RT as a standalone tablet, similar to the Surface Pro 4, which Microsoft launched in January of this year.
The Surface RT will also feature the same 8-inch touchscreen as the Surface 3, which will be replaced by a 10-inch version of Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Pro 3 tablet.
The “Micro phones” line will be available in two versions: the Surface Mini and Surface RT mini, both of which will have a 1.3GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 4GB of RAM.
The Microphones will be priced at $199.99, or $249.99 for the RT mini.
